For those of us who know.

Indi's Shrine

The dogs who’ve shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think
we hear a barking at the door.
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
And sometimes, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them, and always will.

About indi

Raina is Indi's mom. She is 30 and lives in Portland, Oregon. Raina was 22 when she got Indi and her heart broke when Indi was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Today Indi and Raina are living life one day at time. Things sure look brighter with a supportive Tripawd community.

Thank you so much for sharing this most beautiful expression of what our dogs mean to us. It so perfectly says what we’ve all felt at the passing of the ones who offer us unconditional love. May you continue to heal by remembering and treasuring all those warming memories of your beautiful girl, Indi.

I’m so sorry about Indi. There is never enough time with our fur babies.

This poem is exactly how i feel! Thank you so much. Its been 4 months since she’s passed, but i still avoid walking where her bowls were on the kitchen floor. I still open doors by standing far away from them and reaching with arms while leaning in (to let her in first). Saturdays are still her day…because they are very lonely without her.
